Day 9

This was my last full day in Chicago…and also a free day. Most other people stayed up late drinking and planned to sleep in, but I left the party early. So another day flying solo.

But if you hadn’t noticed, I have yet to have visited one of the most important places in Chicago… Harpo Studios! It was a bit out of the way and involved taking the train and walking about 20 minutes. It was kind of a bittersweet moment because I knew that it was deserted. Plus (besides the sign), it was just a bit square building. But none the less, I was glad I made the trek. At least I got to see the parking lot where all the free cars were parked. Hahaha

Then I went across the street to a coffee shop where I had the best latte of my life. I think it was called la columbre or something. Anywho it was cool inside and all the drinks were either $3 or $1.50 even.

Next was a few blocks south to the Italian neighborhood where I enjoyed a fresh handmade Italian sub. All the meats and cheeses were fresh and made in house. It was fantastic.

Walked back to the train and went further out of the city to the Garfield conservatory. It’s one of the largest free standing glass structures in the world. I mostly went to it because it was free, but there were some really cool plants in there.

I had planned on going to another cubs game, but found out that it started earlier and was almost halfway over, so the rest of the afternoon I just shopped and walked around downtown. There was some serious shopping to be had there.

Then I returned to the hotel hoping to run into people because I was getting kind of lonely. But I waited for an hour and a half and didn’t see anyone, so I ended up going to a bar and just eating by myself. Turns out everyone left earlier and the teachers took them out for dinner. Wish I would have gotten that texting package.

So after my dinner I just went back to my room and watched tv till I fell asleep
